2020 team status

We have been praying through the situation for our 2020 teams due to the health situation in China and the impact of the Coronavirus. As you know things are very fluid – in fact they are changing every day. The impact around the world is likewise moving daily as new cases of the coronavirus are discovered. The WHO publishes situation reports (sitreps) virtually every day which we have been following.

Events are impacting all our programs in China as well as our teams. In China we have taken steps to ensure, to the best of our ability, our co-workers and children are safe. Even obtaining food etc. is proving difficult because of the restrictions on movement. Tourist areas are also mostly, if not totally, closed. The country is in lockdown.

Heart for Kids have put teams on hold for the foreseeable future pending the resolution of the situation. We haven’t taken this step lightly or quickly.

Our current position regarding teams for 2020 is:

Team 59

We have taken the step to sadly cancel this team. This will impact many people who have already booked and begun team building and orientation however the situation is simply too volatile to continue to prepare with any confidence.

It’s when improvements will come and so in fairness to all concerned and with a high priority being the safety and welfare of team members the decision needs to be made. China is in lockdown causing most, if not all, our program venues to close to visitors.

Team 60 (July) and 61 (October)

These are further into the future and so for now we will still continue to take enquiries. Application forms will be sent to interested people. However no decision to run the teams can be made at till the overall situation has been resolved and travel is again safe and China has returned to normal.

India

A team to India is planned for later in the year, around October. We will continue to hold this team open as it’s obviously not in China. Flights to India often go through other countries so this will stand will continue to be monitored.

Please continue to pray for China, our co-workers, children and friends in China and of course for those around the world who have contracted the virus. Let’s also pray for those around the world who are working on solutions and vaccines.
